UK Rebukes JD Vance Over Henry Nowak Comments

The UK government accused US Vice President JD Vance of fueling division after he linked the murder of Henry Nowak to immigration and criticised British authorities.

Henry Nowak, a student, 18, was fatally stabbed in Southampton in December 2025 by Vickrum Digwa, a British Sikh, who was later sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years

Bodycam footage showed police handcuffing Nowak as he lay dying after Digwa falsely claimed to be the victim of a racist attack

Vance connected his death to the “mass invasion of migrants” into Britain, blaming British elites for his death, Elon Musk also politicised the murder

Downing Street condemned attempts from the US to use the case to create division, citing the wishes of Nowak’s family

British politicians across parties criticised efforts from the far right, such as Nigel Farage, to politicise the murder and the ongoing investigation

The case has intensified debates over policing, immigration, social cohesion, and foreign commentary on UK domestic affairs
