Sudeten German Congress Hold in Brno, 22-25 May

German officials attended the first-ever Sudeten German Congress in Brno, highlighting reconciliation efforts despite political controversy in the Czech Republic.

Sudeten Germans, as a minority in Czechia, many collaborated with the Nazis in the 1930s and 1940s to kill Jews, but also other people

After the Second World War, many Sudeten Germans were displaced or killed, the refugees in Austria and Germany founded the Association of Sudeten Germans

Parts of the Czech government and Czech nationalist politicians criticised the event and the Association for wanting to take back their country

The Association described the congress as a symbol of reconciliation, not polarisation
