Neo-Nazi activist Joshua Bonehill-Paine’s candidacy for the 2027 Somerset Council elections has sparked debate in the UK over political rehabilitation and the limits for public office holders.

He has previously spent three years in jail for distributing antisemitic material online and racially harassing MP Luciana Berger

The Conservative Party defend their decision of giving Bonehill-Paine a “second chance”

Berger, meanwhile, went on her X account to challenge this candidacy and raise concerns over the standards for public office holders
