Jekaterina Savicka

Martina has earned her BA Magna Cum Laude in International Affairs and Law from John Cabot University in Rome, where she focused on deepening her scholarly research in international relations, public policy and development, and legal studies. Having lived most of her life between Lebanon and Bulgaria, her academic and professional interests lie at the intersection of geopolitics, security, conflict mediation, immigration, and human rights, with a regional emphasis on the Middle East and the Balkans. Her BA thesis is titled "Trump’s Transactional Approach to the Crises in Ukraine and Gaza: Expediency or New Conflict Mediation Diplomacy?". She served as an Intern Assistant at the UN World Food Programme, where she supported the Wellness and Culture Division. Her work involved contributing to global well-being policy development, with a focus on creating resources for intercultural communication, emergency preparedness, and counseling support for humanitarian workers within the Middle East, North Africa, and Eastern Europe (MENAEERO) office. Previously, she worked on the diplomatic management team at the U.S. Tri-Mission Embassy in Rome. Following her participation as an official UN observer at COP29 in Baku, Martina expanded her focus to include sustainable development and climate justice, particularly regarding security and conflict. She is currently researching the challenges of mitigating military emissions and the crucial role of international law in establishing effective national accountability frameworks. As Deputy Editor-in-Chief for Communications and Operations at European Relations, she brings a global outlook, a commitment to thoughtful analysis, and a passion for fostering informed, interdisciplinary dialogue.
