EU Ministers Back Spain Over Ceuta in Emergency Meeting

EU Ministers have reestablished support for Spain at an emergency meeting following the Ceuta migration crisis and called for preventive measures and the targeting of high-risk areas.

Following the migration crisis in Ceuta, the EU Migration Commissioner Magnus Brunner assures that EU stands with “full solidarity” with Spain

The meeting also aimed at combating Europe-wide backlash against the Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez’s migration policies

Interior ministers discussed measures to prevent such a crisis from repeating, with the shared demand of targeting certain areas

Suggested preventative measures include developing early-warning systems like pre-frontier intelligence and social media monitoring
