Trump Satire Comes to EU Parliament

A gold-covered sculpture depicting Donald Trump naked was exhibited at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, using satire to challenge his climate policies and approach to international power.

Danish artist Jens Galschiøt’s 2.6-metre sculpture, “The Orange Plague,” depicts Trump sitting on a smaller man’s shoulders, holding a golf club and scales

Danish MEP Per Clausen of the Left group hosted the exhibition. It was an MEP-led initiative, not an official parliamentary position on Trump

Inspired by “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” the work criticises what the artist describes as threats to climate action, democratic values and the rules-based international order

Galschiøt distributed miniature versions as protest symbols. The sculpture had previously appeared at COP30 in Brazil and at demonstrations supporting Greenland in Copenhagen
