The abstract is one of the most important components of your article. It provides readers with a concise and accurate summary of your work and helps them quickly understand the purpose, scope, and results of your research. A strong abstract should clearly present the central research question or problem your article addresses, outline the methodology you used, summarize your key findings, and highlight the broader implications or relevance of your study within the field of European or international affairs.
When writing your abstract, use clear and precise academic language. Aim to make it understandable as a stand-alone text, without requiring the reader to consult the full article for context or clarification. Do not include any references, footnotes, or citations. Avoid using abbreviations, unless they are widely recognized and absolutely necessary, and always write them out in full the first time they appear.
The ideal length of an abstract submitted to European Relations is between 150 and 250 words. Submissions exceeding or falling short of this range may be returned for revision. Authors are welcome to write their abstract in either English, German or French, the primary publication languages of our platform.
In addition to the abstract text, please include 5 keywords listed directly below the abstract. These keywords should reflect the core themes, regions, and topics covered in your article. They are essential for proper indexing and help increase the visibility of your work in academic databases and search engines.
