Upload a photo (optional) – A clear, professional image helps readers connect with you.
Fill out your author bio – Tell us who you are in 2–3 sentences (your background, interests, studies, or experience).
Add social links – You can include your LinkedIn or other professional platforms so people can connect with you.

Your photo and bio will be shown on your public author profile

2. Thematic Focus of the Ukraine Section

The Ukraine Section provides a platform for exploring the many ways in which Ukraine and Europe are interconnected, addressing a broad spectrum of themes. By way of illustration, you might examine the European influences on Ukrainian domestic developments, such as in the economy, public administration, social policy or other areas. Other possible themes include democratic governance, media freedom, civil society, questions of security and Russia’s war against Ukraine, energy transition, climate and environmental policies, digital transformation, or migration debates, etc.

Articles can also analyse how developments in Ukraine resonate across Europe, shaping discourses on enlargement, solidarity, or European identity. In addition, authors may choose to explore Ukraine’s relations with the European Union, its member states, and European-focused international organisations such as NATO, the OSCE, or the Council of Europe. Broader reflections, for instance, on Ukraine’s geopolitical position, the challenges and opportunities of EU accession, or the cultural, historical, and societal ties between Ukraine and Europe, are likewise welcome. These examples are intended only as illustrations, not as boundaries, and contributions on other topics concerning Ukraine and Europe are equally encouraged.

To get a sense for the article formats, an example of the Ukraine Section’s thematic focus, and the style we aim for, you can read “The Coalition of the Waiting” by Sofia Slonovska.

Since most authors at European Relations are now familiar with the submission guidelines and article formats, pitches will no longer need approval. However, please still add your current article project to the Publications Status Board so that there’s an overview of ongoing topics and we can avoid significant overlap between articles.

New authors are asked to read the instructions and information at the top of the page and may also look at article ideas submitted by other authors for inspiration.
